Dominica. According to countryaah, the current population of Dominica is 71,997. An attempt to oust Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit by a vote of no confidence in Parliament in October failed. Before the vote was held, opposition leader Lennox Linton was ejected from the plenary by President Alix Boyd Knights after he expressed himself inappropriately. Once the vote could be held, the opposition cast its votes and the declaration of disbelief fell. Skerrit was accused of mismanaging the country’s economy and being the cause of rising unemployment, growing government debt and an increased current account deficit.
In March, the minister responsible for public construction was forced and the country’s ports, Ian Pinard, resigned following allegations of what the press described as inappropriate sexual behavior towards a 15-year-old girl. A businessman and a member of parliament from the opposition were also accused of sexual assault against the same girl.
